Yue holds degress in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography(BA and MA), Curating (MA),and Conservation(two-year MA) from the University of the Arts London. She previously worked as a freelance war photographer in Syria and Ukraine, and held solo exhibitons such as A life of Non-Action: in Damascus(2018,China) and Alone in the Darkness: Alias(2019,China). She has worked at several museums in the UK and, in 2019, founded the center for photographic conservation in Beijing, dedicated to promoting the perservation and conservation of photographic collections in China. In 2023, she established the Female Photography Foundation,.which supports Chinese female photographers in gaining international visibility.
She is currently a PhD candidate in Visual Arts at the University of Westminster’s CREAM center. Her research explores religious, political, and sexual allegories in Chinese Shan Shui photography, tracing the evolution of visual language and cultural hybridity from classical Shan Shui imagery to contemporary art photography. Her personal practice has shifted from traditional documentary to experimental photography, with a recent focus on symbolic and allegorical approaches to social issues. Notable projects include the series Becoming Kim Kardashian.
